Stay in good physical shape. practice field crafts, gardening, security, personal security, safety, know you local topography, keep field clothing, a good couple of knives, firearms etc.
Keep 2 weeks of
ammo (120 rounds per day X 14 - 200 rounds ought to do it) - per each caliber!
2 weeks of food (non-perishable)
2 weeks of water
2 weeks of prescription medication
2 weeks worth of over the counter medications (cough syrup, aspirin and a VERY good First Air Kit.

* Be prepared to stay
* Be prepared for flooding
* Be prepared for worst snow in history
* Be prepared for worst heat wave / drought in history
* Be prepared for unfriendly forces (police/gangs/military-foreign & domestic.

First, the militia, while it should be state organized, or state recongnized, generally trained about once a week. Reservists do that but also train for 2 or more weeks in the summer. With this limitation, militia organizations would and could be no more effective than a "sister" reserve unit. Less so, because someone has a toe ache that day, needs to run to the store for some butter or its too hot or too cold outside.
Military staff "pogues" do a lot of "what if'ing" to figure out how to respond or what supplies they would need and about for what duration. Some relious groups prepare for "doomsday" and stockpile a years worth of basics in the food group category. They try and act as if it is already here, economizing with clothes, recycling etc. Not a bad act to follow.

Some basic organization is necessary. BUT keep it basic! The state reserves the right to appoint officers of militia units (keep that in mind!). Maybe we ought to post some "do's & don'ts".

The rag-head militias in Iraq are better armed and trained than any American militia. The sand nig___'s have a lot bigger and better arsonal....

Any guerilla unit has to have an 'effective' arsonal of weapons.

Americans are better armed than the Iraqis. Don't forget the huge black market here for automatic weapons illegally smuggled into the country. Too bad criminals are the only ones who have them. There's more of them out there than you can imagine. The problem here isn't the number of weapons, it's the lack of stones to use them for something as frivolous as personal freedom and individual rights.

Great, lets just hand in our guns and ammo now. Save them the trouble of coming to your home. I, personally do not think I want to live in a soup line or in a camp unless it is of my own making. Bugging out is OK but it will only work for a bit.

Sooner or later, you will have to face the barrel of a gun should a SHTF scenario materialize. Personally, I think a little target practice goes a long way and believe me, when it comes right down to it, there will only be a few in every community who will stand against the storm.

3% won the War for Independence. Might take that here but I will tell you now that many of those in the military who love liberty will not stand for an assault on our own people or the Constitution for that matter.

It won't take long for us to catch up technologically either. Use captured munitions. Tech gear etc.

Hardballer i agree with you, bein that im military right now i know that most of the guys in my unit would not fight our own people, a few of us have talked bout what we would do in that case

I'm watching Gangland from the History Channel, gangs have been operating for decades with the police making little progress. In America the danger may come more from the gangs than an outside army.

I'm quite sure that standing toe to toe with superior numbers of government supported troops won't do shit but get you killed. One or two at the time, then cut and run though...will make life hard for the invaders.
